Harper campus library is having a book sale Wednesday October 19th from 9am to 1pm – AND WE NEED BOOKS! Do you have a few gently used books that could be a part of our sale? Please bring them to the Harper library anytime before October 18th so that they may be included in the sale. Proceeds benefit the library scholarship, which awards 2 students each semester with $500 towards books and tuition.  Book prices will be set at 50 cents for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks.

Drop off used books at Harper library during open hours, Monday – Thursday, 9am to 8pm and Friday 9am to 1pm.

Harper library is open and library staff are ready to guide you to a successful semester.  BUT – what if the library is closed?  Research guides for your subject are available 24/7 online!  The most popular ones for Harper campus students are:

Welding

Construction Management

Sustainability

Graphic Design

Carpentry

Each guide is packed with articles, books, videos and websites relating to these subjects.  To find more guides, check out the full list.

Fall semester is in full swing – how are you doing? Keep ahead of the curve by checking out how Harper campus library can help you when it’s time to start working on those research papers.  We can help you:

  • Locate credible sources
  • Create citations (MLA, APA formats – sound familiar?)
  • Need 4 DIFFERENT TYPES of sources?  No problem! We have books, DVDs, eBooks, and journal articles.

And best of all, we’re friendly and happy to help. Harper campus library is open Monday – Thursday, 9am to 8pm and Friday 9am to 1pm.

Magazines have their own section at Harris Teeter and the entire store perimeter at some book stores (if you can find one that’s still open), but where are the magazines in CPCC Libraries? Each campus library has its own section of magazines and journals specific to programs at that campus.  Harper campus has graphic design journals like HOW and Print, also construction magazines like Custom Home and Welding Journal.  Come take a look!  *these items cannot leave the library, but can be photocopied or scanned.*

Fall 2012 semester is fast approaching, and you may notice some different signage around the library. Signage with maze-like codes. We encourage you to take out your web-enabled device and scan it. You’ll need to download a barcode scanner app to access the information – and it automatically saves in your device to be accessed anytime! CPCC Libraries have created QR codes that link to informative library resources – check them out!

Harper Library Forgiving Fines Through May 26th!

Starting Monday, April 25 through Thursday, May 26, 2011, the CPCC Libraries will be offering a “1-for-1 deal” as part of “fine free forgiveness days”. During this period, fines accrued from overdue items will be forgiven at all campus libraries.

How does this deal work?

  1. Bring in a canned good or other non-perishable food item for any library fines, new or old.   For each can of food, one fine will be waived.
  2. All materials must be returned in good condition. This deal excludes replacement fees for lost and damaged materials.

Food contributions from students, faculty and staff without current fines or overdue materials are also welcomed.  All food items collected will be donated to the local Loaves & Fishes charitable organization.  Their food priority needs list is available here.
